Test results are finally in and we are very proud to announce that Solardome SA's systems outperformed all the other systems that are participating in the ESKOM Demand Side Project. This has secured us the highest incentive amounts for our solar heating units.
SABS initially undertook solar tests on behalf of CEF, installing test rigs on the roof of the SABS building in Groenkloof, Pretoria. This allowed solar performance testing, which is of particular significance to Eskom as the subsidy funds are allocated depending on the efficiency and performance (kW/h) output of the geyser. Test rigs (solar panel and geyser as a unit) are also subject to hail, ultraviolet exposure, pressure and other tests as defined by the Mechanical endurance standard SANS 1307. Finally, electrical safety tests are conducted by SABS, as required by SANS 151 and SANS 60335-2-21.
